What I'm Wearing - 9/21/10

sunny, 90 F
first day of classes

dress and tank: anthropologie
denim jacket: express
boots: aldo
heart necklace: claire's
heart & bow earrings: betsey johnson
orange bracelet: plasticland
strawberry tote bag: forever 21

Are you sick of this dress yet? This is now the third time I've posted it on the blog, lol. Ah well, it's one of my favorite summer outfits. I decided to keep it around for the transition to fall, even though I put most of my summer clothes in storage at my parents' house last weekend.

Also, I tried to scrunch my hair with mousse to make waves. But I don't think I left it clipped up long enough, so it didn't turn out very wavy.

Ok well I have class coming up this evening, so I'm out. Bye for now!

What I'm Wearing - 9/19/10

cloudy; 60 F
shopping at ikea

pinstriped shirt: macy's
denim skirt: wet seal
beige kitten heels: topshop
all bracelets: claire's
all rings: claire's
earrings: claire's
necklace: modcloth

eyes: lancome eyeshadow in "bubbles" and turquoise urban decay liquid liner
hair: in a dutch braid =]

I've been wanting to rock the layered bracelets look foreverrr, and I finally went bracelet shopping last week. I found some great cheap bracelets at claire's and hot topic, as well as some great rings, so expect to see a lot of jewelry shots in future posts.

Also, I've been thinking of putting layers back in my hair, after having it all one length for a long time. I want more volume around my face. But I'm afraid that I won't be able to make gorgeous braids like the one above anymore if I do. So I'm trying to decide whether it's more important that my hair looks good up or looks good down. Tough decision!

What I'm Wearing - 9/18/10

Man, have I been slacking on this blog! I've just been focused on other things. I'm taking the GRE soon, and I've been preparing for the start of school - which was today! Also, my boyfriend is in the process of remodeling his condo, and my mom is an interior designer, so she and I have been helping him make decisions, which has involved multiple trips to IKEA and meetings with contractors, etc.

And also, my buddy for over the past year passed away last week. Here is Ajax, aka my "leetle guy" - I nicknamed him when I first got him, before he grew a bunch.

He looks a little limp in these pictures because these were taken a few hours after he died.
Here's a pic taken of him while he was alive. He outgrew this bowl, and I had to buy him a big aquarium eventually.

He was a smart crayfish. One morning, I woke up and Ajax wasn't in his bowl. My boyfriend and I panicked and started tearing my room apart - crayfish can only live about 6 hours out of water, and we weren't sure how long he had been out of his bowl. After an hour of searching my apartment, James found Ajax out in my living room, underneath the TV furniture, trying to climb up a power strip. He had gotten really far! After that I made sure to keep a lid on his bowl, until I could get him a big aquarium a couple weeks later. =]

I think he just died of old age. So it's a bummer, but that's how life goes. My birthday is in a few days, and I think I'll be getting a new crayfish as one of my gifts.

Anyways, sorry for getting distracted. I have a bunch of outfit posts coming up! So without further ado, this is what I wore to go out with James for our one-year anniversary a few days ago. We went to see a movie ("Going the Distance") and then afterwards went to Buffalo Wild Wings, because it was two doors down from the theater, and one of the few places still open and serving food at 11:30 pm. Not that romantic, but we had a great time, good drinks, and flowing conversation. I got him the Banana Republic coat that I had been eyeing, and he got me a shutterfly album full of pictures he took of our first year together! It was really sweet.

55 F

I have a lot of thigh chub in these photos - I think the angle was a bit awkward.

I curled my hair for the occasion. I'm thinking of putting layers in my hair for more volume around my face and the top of my head.

^boyfriend in background, teehee!

yellow trapeze sweater: lord & taylor
white t-shirt: j.crew
wide leg high-waisted jeans: seven for all mankind (purchased at tjmaxx)
beige oxfords: miss me (from endless.com)
green gem bracelet: local boutique (vintage charm)
rings: gift and topshop

Lusting After... (Men's Edition)

Hello there! Sorry for temporarily falling off the blogosphere. I haven't worn much interesting stuff, with the exception of a night out bar-hopping, but my boyfriend has those pics on his camera. I have also been visiting my parents this week, so I haven't been at my most stylish.

However, over the past couple days, I've been very interested in men's style. The reason for that is that I intend to make over my boyfriend. He has pretty good fashion sense already, but I'd like to see him mix it up more and add some variety to his clothes - I feel like he's always wearing the same things. I'd also like to see him layer more - I'm sure any of you fashionable ladies knows the merits of layering, and how it can add a lot of depth and interest to an outfit.

So he said that he's up for a bit of improvement, as long as I help him. But it will have to wait awhile, since 1) he's living out of a suitcase right now until he's done remodeling his condo and getting settled, and 2) he has a few pounds he'd like to lose first (teehee). In the meantime, I'm just browsing stores online and getting some ideas. And in my browsing, I've come across some items that I LOVE for him.

Levi's 527 jeans
Check out the model - these jeans make one's butt look amaaazing!

Lacoste Style In Play
James already has a good everyday cologne (Polo Blue), but I like this one for him too.
Maybe for special occasions or something.
Smells yummy.
Lacoste Carnaby sneakers
Classic. White. James doesn't have anything like this, but he needs to.

H&M blazer
James needs to embrace the blazer as a layering piece.

Banana Republic peacoat
I am so in love with this coat, that I am going to purchase it to give to James for either our one-year-anniversary next week, or else Christmas. (shh, don't tell him)

Banana Republic scarf
A classic.

Polo Ralph Lauren ribbed tank
Some consider it a fashion don't, but I kind of like guys wearing these as shirts with shorts or jeans.
James needs to tone up right now, but when he's at his best he likes to show off his guns. ;]

Old Navy sweater
I've never met an argyle I didn't like.
And I LOVE it in this orange tone.
The color would totally pop against James' black hair and medium coloring.

Armani Exchange studded tee
James loves graphic tees, and this would be an excellent addition to his collection.
The studs make it perfect for when we go clubbing.

Polo Ralph Lauren big pony polo
I like the cool design of this polo, and the mix of colors.
Comes in other colors too!
